Building Trades Group (BTG) Drug & Alcohol Safety and Rehabilitation Program (BTGDA)

The BTGDA (also referred to as the Program) is a work place drug and alcohol safety and education program run by the Drug and Alcohol Committee of the Building Trades Group of Unions in NSW, and similar bodies in other states of Australia. The Program promotes awareness and workplace safety through drug and alcohol education as well as linking workers with problems to appropriate treatment services.

The Buttery

Residents at The Buttery embark on a standard program involving group therapy and education, living skills instruction and stress management training, art therapy as well as orientation to the 12 Step philosophy and Self Help groups. Individual case management is provided by qualified staff who guide residents through a personalised program of recovery where significant personal issues can be addressed in depth.

Construction Industry Drug and Alcohol Foundation (CIDAF)

The CIDAF (also known as the Foundation) provides a broad range of drug and alcohol services that  are specially targeted to the needs of building workers, including assessment, a residential program, relapse prevention services, outpatient counselling and family support to construction industry personnel. The Foundation is linked through similar goals, and its target group to The Building Trades Group Drug and Alcohol Safety and Rehabilitation Program (The BTG Program) - however, it operates independently and autonomously.

Foundation House is the CIDAF treatment facility and offers the following programs:

  • Outpatients Program
  • Family Program
  • Relapse Prevention Program

Family Drug Support (FDS)
Aim to assist families struggling as a result of drug use to cope with the realisation of their situation and to survive it intact. Offers counselling, family therapy, community drug awareness forums, referrals to treatment and rehabilitation services, etc. FDS provide a seven day, 24 hour telephone line, manned by volunteers offering help to diffuse crisis, proffering strategies for coping and giving any information required.

Lyndon Therapeutic Community

The Lyndon Therapeutic Community is situated in Canowindra, a country town in Central West NSW and fifty five kilometres from Orange. Lyndon T.C. is a Residential Drug and Alcohol Unit, providing rehabilitation for adults, male and female and couples.

Missionbeat

Patrols Inner Sydney streets, seeking those in distress and need. They are taken to services where their immediate needs can be met, such as safe accommodation, food, clothing and the option to access intervention support services. It also responds to public calls for help and calls from police, ambulance, community services and government departments. The service operates from 7am-11pm, seven days a week.

Odyssey House

Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS)

Offers a 24 hours, 7 days a week confidential telephone information, advice and counselling service for people with problems related to drugs and alcohol. Keeps a complete database of treatment agencies in NSW. The Methadone Advice and Complaints Service offers advice and information on NSW and national policies on methadone programs.

Clinical Services Team

Counselling in alcohol and other drug problems for: people who have a personal problem with alcohol or other drugs; patients and staff of St Vincent�s Hospital; people who live or work in the inner city area of Sydney; young people; health and welfare workers; or people who have a relative or friend with a problem. The Station

The Station Ltd. operates a Drop-in Centre and Housing Support Program in the inner city of Sydney. It targets men and women over the age of 16 who are homeless and/or unemployed and provides clients with a variety of services ranging from meals to crisis counselling and case management.

The Ted Noffs Foundation (TNF)

Provides essential services for young people and their families who are experiencing drug and alcohol problems and related trauma. Its range of programs for young people are all based on leading research, continually evaluated and government endorsed.

Wayside Chapel

Provides a crisis line, assistance with accommodation, clothing, health clinic and drug and alcohol treatment and referral. They have a specific youth program called Shepherd of the Streets. This program looks after homeless people on the streets and operates 7 days a week.

WHOS (We Help Ourselves)

Programs offered include:

  • New Beginnings - a residential therapeutic program.  It is a service for women and run exclusively by women
  • MTAR (Methadone To Abstinence Residential) - A program to assist clients to reduce off methadone while learning the skills necessary to live drug free.
  • Gunyah Mens - Provides a safe and secure environment where men who suffer from drug abuse and related problems can concentrate on their recovery.
  • WHOS Hunter Valley - Provide an environment for recovery from drug abuse where AOD workers provide group and individual counselling
  • RTOD (Residential Treatment of Opioid Dependence) - A program for men and women wishing to stabilise on their opioid substitution pharmacotherapy treatment.
